After having lost ground the previous two weeks the Aussie market finished in the black posting solid gains across the board. The All Ordinaries rose 2.6% to close at 4,722.6 whilst the ASX 200 leapt 2.4% to settle at 4,706.4.
Banking and mining constituents all faired well generally although Macquarie and Westpac gave up some of their recent gains. NAB finished higher for the week despite having gone ex dividend.
Banks
ANZ finished up 0.4% to $22.48
CBA finished up 3.1% to $54.33
Macquarie finished down 1.5% to $48.85
NAB finished up 0.5% to $28.89
WBC finished down 2.7% to $25.82
Resources
BHP finished up 4.3% to $39.01
RIO Tinto finished up 7.0% to $69.52
Woodside Petroleum finished up 2.2% to $48.96
The Australian market remains resilient as does its economy. Long term investors should continue to take advantage of any selloff the equity market may encounter.
