The Australian share market closed in positive territory last week adding 1.1%. The All Ordinaries settled above 5,000 to close at 5,026 whilst the ASX 200 finished the week at 4,936.
Strong gains were enjoyed across the board although ANZ disappointed the market with a 27% rise in first quarter earnings; obviously the market had been expecting more. CBA also fell for the week although it went ex-dividend.
Banks
ANZ finished down 0.1% to $24.89
CBA finished down 1.7% to $54.20
Macquarie finished down 0.1% to $39.33
NAB finished up 2.8% to $26.41
WBC finished up 0.6% to $24.21
Resources
BHP finished up 0.4% to $46.56
RIO Tinto finished up 0.4% to $87.61
Woodside Petroleum finished up 1.1% to $42.74
The ASX 200 finished a little closer to the psychological 5,000 mark last week. Perhaps we will finally see it broken this week.
