For the 10th consecutive week the Aussie market extended its gains. The All Ordinaries broke through the psychological 5,000 point mark whilst the ASX 200 also broke through briefly but closed just under the mark.
Banks were the star performers last week with all the majors posting solid gains. Resources were mixed with RIO Tinto edging slightly higher.
Banks
ANZ finished up 2.1% to $25.69
CBA finished up 2.9% to $59.83
Macquarie finished up 4.5% to $51.59
NAB finished up 2.8% at $28.37
WBC finished up 1.7% to $28.18
Resources
BHP finished down 0.8% to $43.54
RIO Tinto finished up 0.3% to $79.67
Woodside Petroleum down 1.6% to $46.72
After 10 weeks of gains in a row, the market must be due for a mild retracement at the very least. Any falls however will continue to provide investors with excellent long term buying opportunities.
