The Australian market fell sharply last week with both the All Ordinaries and the ASX 200 correcting by nearly 2%.
Stocks were mixed last week in both the major sectors.
Banks
ANZ finished up 0.5% to $24.23
CBA finished up 1.0% to $53.71
Macquarie finished down 0.3% to $35.16
NAB finished up 1.1% to $27.08
WBC finished down 2.5% to $24.84
Resources
BHP finished down 3.1% to $45.83
RIO Tinto finished down 2.2% to $82.21
Woodside Petroleum finished down 2.2% to $46.80
It appears that the local bourse simply cannot break through the critical 5,000 point barrier. After several attempts over the past 12 months, the benchmark indices continue to trade below this mark.
