The Wrap

The Australian market continued on its merry way closing in positive territory for the 9th straight week. The All Ordinaries closed at 4,973 and the ASX 200 settled at 4948; both indices up around 1%.

However, it was the smaller stocks that lifted the market last week. Resources and the big banks were generally lower.

Banks
ANZ finished down 0.6% to $25.15
CBA finished up 2.4% to $58.14
Macquarie finished up 4.8% to $49.37
NAB finished down 0.2% at $27.60
WBC finished down 0.8% to $27.72

Resources
BHP finished down 0.1% to $43.90
RIO Tinto finished down 0.2% to $79.47
Woodside Petroleum down 1.2% to $47.50

Whilst it is possible this run will continue, it’s worth noting this 9 week winning streak has to be interrupted at some stage soon. Continue to trade with caution.
