The Australian market ended in positive territory last week after a solid lead from overseas markets. The two benchmark indices both closed back up around the 4,400 mark. It was gains across the board with every component of the ASX Top 20 closing higher for the week.
Banks
ANZ finished up 7.3% to $22.39
CBA finished up 4.3% to $49.80
Macquarie finished up 10.1% to $39.65
NAB finished up 4.2% at $24.04
WBC finished up 5.9% to $22.20
Resources
BHP finished up 3.6% to $38.43
RIO Tinto finished up 4.3% to $68.10
Woodside Petroleum up 3.7% to $42.53
The next few weeks will be an interesting time in the market as we embark upon the US earnings season. Should companies overall report better than expected results, global markets are likely to rally and we all know what that means for the Aussie stock market.
