The Wrap

In almost the same fashion as the previous week, Friday’s big gains weren’t enough to offset the week’s losses. Both the All Ordinaries and the ASX 200 indices fell around 1% settling around the 4,600 mark. The choppy week experienced in the US translated to volatile trade here in Oz.

Whilst the banking sector was generally mixed, the mining giants all finished in the black with the exception of BHP; it was flat for the week.

Banks
ANZ finished down 2.9% to $22.40
CBA finished up 0.9% to $52.71
Macquarie finished down 0.8% to $49.60
NAB finished down 3.7% to $28.75
WBC finished up 0.7% to $26.55

Resources
BHP finished down 0.1% to $37.40
RIO Tinto finished up 1.9% to $65.00
Woodside Petroleum finished up 0.4% to $47.91

What October didn’t deliver November might! Markets have got the jitters in the past 2 weeks and it is quite possible further falls may be experienced.
